A model synthesis for the system that regulates blood flow is presented. The model consists of coupled oscillators, which present subsystems involved in the regulation of one passage of blood through the cardiovascular system. It is based on a priori physiological knowledge and observations of the system's functions by measurements and linear and nonlinear analysis of measured time series. Furthermore, the blood flow through the system of closed tubes consisting of blood vessels is described by wave equations.
