Diffractive Patterns in Optical Systems with Symmetry Breaking: from Domain Walls to Cavity Solitons.
O.G. Romanov

The formation of spatial domain walls in nonlinear optical systems exhibiting different types of bistability (S-type and symmetry breaking) has been considered. The origination conditions of moving domain walls in the field of counterpropagating light beams have been studied numerically. The formation of bright and dark cavity solitons from interaction of domain walls, their spectrum and stability are discussed.
Key words: domain wall, cavity soliton, symmetry breaking instability
